Dissecting Ride Offers

Within hours of posting my Craigslist Ad I got a response from "craigslist@aroundbeantown.com" the body of which said "Wow - You Suck."  At first I was disheartened, but this only reaffirmed my need to get the fuck out of New England.

A few started rolling in the next day.  I received a ride offer to Portland, Maine, one to Halifax, Nova Scotia... both of which sound really nice, but as I was considering those two fell into my lap.

A ride all the way out to Fairbanks, Alaska was offered by a guy named CJ.  How can I turn that down?

My friend Mike has also told me that he's going to California in mid-July.  Which ever ride leaves first is the ride I'm taking.  Hopefully it's less than two weeks until blast-off.

Beginnings

My plans for the Summer have fallen through.  Traveling abroad to study Arabic has proven a much more difficult task than I previously thought... (I didn't get into the program I had applied to.)  So, to make up for it, I've decided to hitch across the country.

A little about me... I'm 24, unconventional undergrad at the University of Massachusetts, studying Political Science, International Relations, and concentrating on the Middle East and Arabic... I speak 4 languages, am a musician, and am excited about the prospect of a Summer without any commitments and hardly any cash.

I'll be bringing my guitar, harmonicas, a backpack, and a tent with me.

I plan on logging my adventures through this blog.

I hope to be on the road as of July 1, hopefully this will come to fruition.

Thanks!
